Frequently Asked Questions
What are the working hours?
I work very flexibly and I can offer evening and week-end appointments if they are available, as well day time hours.
What is the waiting time?
I can usually offer an appointment within a week.
How long does an appointment last?
An individual sesssion lasts an hour, but couples and families take longer, either an hour and a half or two hours, so that everyone gets a chance to speak.
Do I have to commit to a specific number of sessions?
No. Sometimes one session is sufficient, but often the therapy takes longer. You decide what is right for you, and you can finish at any time.
How frequent will the sessions be?
Again this is a joint decision. Some people come weekly at the beginning and then change to fortnightly or monthly. Sometimes towards the end of therapy, people like to telephone when they would like a consultation.
Is your service confidential
Yes the sessions are completely confidential. The only exception would be if you or someone else were considered to be at serious risk. This rarely happens, and when it does, I try to seek your consent. The only other people who would be consulted in these circumstances would be other professionals e.g. GP or social workers.
Can I bring someone with me?
Yes it is sometimes useful to bring either a partner, family member or even a friend.
What happens at the first appointment?
This is an opportunity to meet me and decide what you wish to achieve from the therapy process and what a desired outcome would be. At the end of this session you can decide whether this type of therapy suits you or not.
Do I need to pay for this consultation
Yes, because it is a very important part of the therapy, and sometimes one session is sufficient.
Will you be able to help?
Most people feel more positive and empowered by discussing their issues in this way.
How much does it cost?
I charge £70 per hour. Individual sessions are an hour, but couples and families take longer to give everyone a chance to speak. Couples are £90 per hour and families £120 per hour. How frequently you come for sessions, is discussed at the beginning and throughout the course of the therapy. Sometimes people come weekly at the beginning and as the process develops they decide on fortnightly or monthly sessions. Family sessions are usually fortnightly or monthly.
