Counselling, Psychotherapy and Consultation in Cobham Surrey for Individuals, couples and families
Who am I and how I work
I originally qualified as a social worker and specialised in Adult Mental Health. This was very rewarding work in helping people regain their health and welbeing. It was during this time that I was encouraged to train in psychotherapy, and these skills greatly enhanced the change processes used in working with clients.
I qualified as a psychotherapist in 1996, and then moved to the NHS with a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Team, and I have also worked as a university counsellor. So I have experience in working with all age groups, as well as working with couples and families. I now concentrate solely on private practice.
I have recently published a chapter detailing how I work in 'WhyTherapists Choose to Become Therapists' Sofie Bager-Charleson Karnac/UKCP Series 2010
Making the choice between different perspectives of counselling/psychotherapy, can be a very confusing decision. When people are seeking relief from their problems and distress, they do not need extra stress in the process. I work collaboratively with people to understand what will make a welcome difference, for themselves and others that they care about.
